OA誌、70%以上が論文掲載料無料
ハーバード大学教授Stuart Shieber氏の調査によると、Directory of Open Access Journals(DOAJ)掲載誌（2009年5月26日時点で4,110誌）の70.29%（2,889誌）は論文掲載料が無料、23.14%（951誌）が有料、残り6.57%（270誌）は不詳であった。26.99%（1,519誌）は複合型。なお、調査はスクリーン・スクレイピング法で実施した。
